In September of 2009 I hiked for 11–12 days through the High Sierras following the Sierra High Route. We started at Mount Whitney and made up our own route to connect with the start of the Sierra High Route at Road’s End. We did this because we thought it would be fun to start on the Mountaineer’s Route on Mt. Whitney and logistically it was easier because we finished on the East Side of the Sierras. This made it easier to get back to the car. The hike was really fun. I love hiking in the fall and love the Sierras. It was a great time to be out with a lot less people and getting a little bit of fall foliage and cool, crisp nights.
